Claude: Conversation Too Long

Claude has a context window limit (200k tokens for Claude 3 and later models, though the web UI enforces a lower practical limit for consumer plans). When a conversation accumulates enough messages to fill the context window, Claude cannot process new messages in that thread. Unlike some models that silently drop older messages, Claude stops and requires the user to start a new conversation.
