AI business coaching is real but narrower than the ads claim: it is excellent for on-demand advice and prep, terrible at accountability. Here is the honest split.
An AI business coach is a general AI assistant used like a coach: you bring it decisions, numbers and drafts, and it challenges, structures and preps them on demand. It is genuinely good at availability, recall and honest second opinions, and genuinely bad at accountability and reading a room. Used right it replaces the advisory half of a $300/hour coach at roughly $49 a month.

Nobody sells a licensed AI coach. What exists is a pattern of use: owners paste a real situation into a capable model and ask it to coach. "Here is my pricing, my close rate, and the email I am about to send. What am I missing?" Done weekly with real numbers, it is closer to a mastermind partner than a chatbot. Done vaguely, it is a fortune cookie.
Accountability is the big one. A human coach notices you skipped the commitment for the third week running; AI forgets unless you build the check-in yourself. Politics is the second: coaching through a co-founder conflict or a key-employee problem needs a read of people that text summaries cannot carry. And the network: human coaches open doors. AI writes better emails, it does not make introductions.
If the problem is recurring avoidance (you know what to do and keep not doing it), a human coach's accountability is the actual product. If the problem is you cannot read a partner or a team, same answer. AI coaching covers the thinking work; humans cover the people work. Most owners need both, in that order.

An AI business coach is a genuinely useful advisor that costs $49 a month instead of $500 a session, as long as you bring it real numbers and honest context. It will not hold you accountable or read the room; for that, the human still earns their fee.
It replaces the advisory half (prep, second opinions, structure) but not accountability or people-reading. Many owners use both.
Give it standing context on your business, bring real numbers, ask for pushback, and run a weekly debrief.
A capable workspace runs $20 to $49/month, versus $200 to $500 per coaching session.
