We ran the same research, reporting and drafting jobs through the leading agent products. What each is actually good at, what they cost, and which to pick.
For most small businesses the best AI agent is the one inside a workspace you already pay for - Krater Agent runs browser and sandbox tasks on a flat subscription with 500+ models behind it. Manus leads on complex multi-step research tasks, Genspark on fast research-to-slide pipelines, ChatGPT's agent mode on OpenAI-ecosystem tasks, and workflow builders like Lindy on repeatable no-code pipelines. The ranking below is from running the same jobs through each, not from vendor pages.

Runs in its own browser and sandbox with the whole model catalog behind it, on the same subscription as the rest of the workspace - Pro from $20/month, Max $119 for a five-seat team with no second meter. Where it wins: mixed business tasks that benefit from model choice (research with one model, polish with another, generate the report image with a third) without leaving the tool or the bill. Where it loses: bleeding-edge agent demos where Manus still squeezes out extra steps.
Manus remains the benchmark for long-horizon agent tasks: multi-source research, file manipulation, iterative browsing. It costs more (credit-based tiers roughly $39-199/month) and you are buying a single-purpose agent - every other AI need is a separate subscription. Right for teams whose central workflow genuinely is deep research.
Super Agent turns a research question into slides or a formatted doc in minutes; the output quality on structured deliverables is the best of the consumer agents. Credit pricing scales steeply on heavy media tasks. Right for marketing and analyst roles producing weekly decks; expensive as a general assistant.
OpenAI's agent mode browses, fills forms and connects to Google Drive on Business seats. It is competent, but it is inside the $25-30/seat product - so this is "free if you already chose ChatGPT Business," not a reason to choose it.
Lindy, Gumloop and Relay are not agents in the browsing sense; they are AI pipelines with triggers. When the workflow is identical every run - "new lead → enrich → draft outreach → queue for approval" - a pipeline beats an agent because it cannot wander. When the task varies week to week, the agent wins.

The agent market sells spectacle; businesses buy outcomes. Test each candidate on your three most repeated workflows before paying anything - the winner is almost always the cheapest product that finishes them reliably, and for most teams that is the agent already inside their workspace.
