Work together with shared credits

Teams give your organization a shared workspace on Krater: one shared credit pool, per-member usage tracking, and centralized billing. Every member gets full Max-level access through the team owner’s subscription — no separate plan required.

Teams are a Max feature. You can create a team if you subscribe to Max yourself (or run an Enterprise plan). Members you invite inherit your plan’s access while your subscription stays active — including people on free accounts.

Creating a Team

  1. Click your profile icon → Settings
  2. Go to the Team tab
  3. Click Create Team
  4. Enter a team name and create

You automatically become the team Owner with full admin rights.

Seats

Note: members who have Max access only through a team can’t create their own teams — team creation requires your own Max subscription.

Inviting Members

Owners and Admins can invite people two ways — by email or with a shareable link.

Via Email

  1. In Settings → Team, find Add members
  2. Paste one or more email addresses (separated by commas or new lines)
  3. Pick a role — Member or Admin
  4. Click Send invites

Each person gets an invite email with a link to join. Email invites are locked to the invited address — the recipient signs in (or signs up) with that email to accept.

Via Invite Link

  1. In Settings → Team, toggle on Invite link
  2. Copy the generated krater.ai/join/... link
  3. Share it with your teammates — anyone with the link can join

All invites expire after 14 days and are single-use. Pending invites appear under Pending invites, where you can copy the link again or revoke them.

Team Roles

Role Permissions
Owner Everything: manage members and roles, buy credits, set member limits, rename the team, enforce Private models, delete the team
Admin Invite and remove members, change member/admin roles, buy credits, set member limits, edit team settings
Member Use the shared credit pool and team features

Changing Roles

Owners and Admins can switch a member between Member and Admin from the members list in Settings → Team. The Owner role can’t be reassigned.

Shared Team Credits

Every team draws from one shared balance with two parts:

Bucket What it is
Monthly pool The team owner’s monthly plan credits, shared with the whole team. Resets on the subscription billing date — unused pool credits don’t roll over.
Top-up balance Bulk credits purchased for the team. Never expire and automatically kick in when the monthly pool runs out.

Track usage per member

Settings → Team → Credits & usage shows the remaining monthly pool, the top-up balance, and a per-member usage table for the current month. Owners and Admins can set an optional monthly credit limit for any member — leave it blank for no limit.

When the pool runs low, Krater emails the Owner and Admins (heads-up at low, critical, and empty thresholds).

Purchasing Team Credits

Owners and Admins can buy bulk team credits in Settings → Team:

Team top-ups never expire.

Sharing Conversations with the Team

Conversations are private by default. To share one with your team, open the conversation’s Share dialog and pick your team — it appears in every member’s sidebar with a Team conversation badge. You can unshare it anytime.

Enforcing Private Models

Owners and Admins can toggle Only use Private models in Settings → Team → General. This restricts every team member to first-party providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral AI, Cohere, xAI). Auto Routers remain available and select only from those providers, enforced server-side across the whole app and API.

Member of Multiple Teams?

You can belong to several teams at once. In Settings → Team, use the Switch team dropdown in the header to manage a different team. If your own subscription is active, your usage bills against it; if you have Max through a team, your usage draws from that team’s shared pool.

Keep in mind: if a team owner’s subscription lapses, members lose their inherited Max access until it’s renewed. Your own paid plan (if you have one) is never affected.

FAQ

Q: Do team members need their own paid plan? No. Members inherit Max-level access from the owner’s active subscription. Members who already pay keep their own plan too — team access doesn’t pause or replace it.

Q: Do team credits expire? The monthly pool resets each billing cycle (unused pool credits don’t roll over). Purchased team top-up credits never expire.

Q: Can team members see each other’s conversations? Only conversations explicitly shared to the team. Everything else stays private.

Q: What happens if the owner cancels Max? Members lose inherited access and the shared pool until the owner resubscribes. Joining new members is also blocked while the owner has no active Max or Enterprise subscription.

Q: Can I transfer ownership? Ownership transfer isn’t self-serve — contact hey@krater.ai if you need to change a team’s owner.
