How to Cancel Perplexity (Web, iPhone and Android)

Cancel on the web (perplexity.ai)

1. Log in at perplexity.ai.
2. Open Settings, then Subscription.
3. Click Manage subscription; you are taken to the Stripe billing portal.
4. Choose Cancel subscription and confirm. Pro features stay until the end of the paid period.

Cancel on iPhone

1. Open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions.
2. Find Perplexity and tap Cancel Subscription.

The gotchas that trip people up

• No cancel option in Settings? Then you subscribed in the app. Apple and Google billed subscriptions never appear in the web billing portal.
• Deleting your account does not cancel Stripe billing. Cancel the subscription first, then delete if you want.
• Pro and Max are the same flow. Both tiers cancel through the same billing portal.

Why people actually cancel

• Paying $20 for one narrow job. Perplexity does cited search extremely well, but $20/month for a search layer stings when the same money buys a full AI workspace elsewhere.
• The free tier covers casual research. Occasional cited answers do not need a subscription.
• Subscription fatigue. Perplexity plus ChatGPT or Claude is $40+ a month with real overlap.

If that is why you are leaving
