AI collaboration is more than a share link: people working inside the same AI conversation or project. What it means and how the tools stack up.

It helps to split it into three levels, because most tools only reach the first:

What is AI collaboration? More than one person working with the same AI context: replies inside a shared chat, or a shared project with common files and instructions. A read-only share link is distribution, not collaboration.
Is sharing an AI chat the same as collaboration? No. Sharing lets someone watch; collaboration lets them participate. In every single-vendor AI app, a share link is read-only: on Krater, an edit invite link lets the other person post inside the same thread.
Can people using different AI models collaborate in one place? Only where the workspace itself is multi-model. On Krater, one shared conversation can contain turns from GPT, Claude, Gemini and hundreds of other models.
Do collaborators need a paid plan? On Krater, collaborators sign in to edit inside a shared chat or project; public snapshots need no account at all. On Claude Team or ChatGPT Business, collaboration happens inside seats the workspace pays for.
