Step-by-step: delete your Descript account the right way - cancel billing first, export your projects, then remove the account permanently.

Members of someone else's drive must be removed by the drive admin before they can delete their own account.
Deletion removes your account, cloud projects, transcripts and usage history. Exported files on your machine are untouched.
Deleting removes your account; it does not get you a refund for the current billing period. If you are leaving because of the price, there is a cheaper way to keep the same capability.
If Descript was costing you a standalone subscription, Krater gives you 500+ AI models in one workspace for a single $20/month Pro plan, including transcription and video models. Compare plans on our Descript pricing breakdown or see every model we support.

Can I recover my Descript account after deleting it?
No. Deletion is permanent - the account, projects and transcripts are removed and cannot be restored.
Do I get a refund when I delete my account?
Deleting the account does not trigger a refund. Cancel the subscription first and check Descript's refund policy.
Is deleting the same as cancelling?
No. Cancelling stops future billing but keeps your account and projects. Deleting removes the account entirely. Most people should cancel first, export their work, then delete.
